The aim was to collect information from the bottom-up, thereby creating a people-centered perspective of the locality. The data was collected through activity sheets specially designed to understand the standpoint of the people, both children and adults. On the whole about 180 activity sheets for children and 30 activity sheets for adults were collected. The activity sheets were designed keeping in mind themes like perceptions of the neighbourhood, right for vulnerable communities, protection of livelihoods and lost opportunities, priorities and opportunities, resilient communities. The outcome that we received not only focused on all the above mentioned points but also on environmental protection and creative expressions of sociocultural and socio-political landscape of the area.
This initiative enabled us to achieve a cultural storytelling of the area through the perception of the people and develop an understanding of these aspects. It also enabled us to celebrate and document the area through crowd-sourced database of perspectives which further allowed us to capture the neglected narrative of the city and create a collective memory of the same. We are working towards building this narrative further into a holistic outreach project that focuses on various solutions and approaches towards better engagement and interaction with the community.
